The story behind Los Colores

Los Colores—as it's affectionally referred to—was born out of passion for the region and self-expression. Learn how I got here.

In 2016...

I embarked on a road trip around the Yucatán Peninsula, searching for a new home and the perfect location to open a bed and breakfast. My journey took me through the vibrant cities of Cancún, Tulum, Bacalar, Campeche, Mérida, and the serene Rio Lagartos. While Campeche and Mérida both captured my interest, it was Mérida that truly resonated with me—the city's energy and vibe made it feel like the right place to bring my dream to life.

With nothing but determination...

I developed a concept and culture for my future B&B, dedicating myself to learning everything I could about the business. I dove into research, reading books, staying as a guest at various B&Bs, and meeting with local owners. In Mérida, I connected with two experienced B&B proprietors, soaking up their knowledge about the lifestyle and keys to success.

As the plans took shape...

I began searching for the perfect property and reached out to friends for their support and expertise—all the while experimenting with bread recipes, crafting what would become the signature breads of Los Colores.

After finally raising enough money, I faced the daunting challenge of purchasing a property. Over the course of two years, I attempted to buy five different properties, each attempt proving more difficult than I had anticipated.

Undeterred, I persisted.

My dedication paid off. Today, Los Colores de Mérida stands as a testament to my vision, hard work, and the deep connection I feel to the vibrant culture of Mérida.

My desire to fulfill my dream is only surpassed by my passion to provide genuine and unique experiences to my guests.

Welcome to Los Colores de Merida.
