The city’s rhythm calls too. At Parque de las Américas, I join neighbors, immersed in Mérida’s music, flavors, and community. Back at Los Colores, new tastes arrive in the kitchen, like cremini mushroom ajillo tacos, honoring Yucatán’s love for bold, simple ingredients.
As the month closes, Mérida enters a time of remembrance with Hanal Pixán and the Festival de las Ánimas, traditions that honor those who came before us.

De regreso en Los Colores, llegan nuevos sabores a la cocina, como los tacos de champiñones cremini al ajillo, honrando el amor yucateco por ingredientes sencillos y llenos de sabor.

Every September, the city bursts into life with Independence Day celebrations. From the traditional Grito de Dolores in Plaza Grande to La Cabalgata on Paseo de Montejo, dazzling fireworks, and the municipal parade the next morning, Mérida celebrates with pride, color, and tradition.
After the fireworks, I joined some of the revelers for a sandwich and beer at Barra Cometa. All that celebrating can make you hungry!

VIVA México en Mérida
Cada septiembre, la ciudad se llena de vida con las celebraciones de la Independencia de México. Desde el tradicional Grito de Dolores en la Plaza Grande hasta la Cabalgata en Paseo de Montejo, los fuegos artificiales que iluminan el cielo y el desfile municipal al día siguiente, Mérida celebra con orgullo, color y tradición.
Después de los fuegos, me uní a los festejantes con un sándwich y una cerveza en Barra Cometa. ¡Tanta celebración abre el apetito!
