Festival de las Ánimas 2026: A Season of Tradition, Memory, and Connection in Mérida
October 24 – November 2, 2026
Late October and early November bring one of the most meaningful times of year to Mérida. During Festival de las Ánimas, the city comes together to honor family, memory, and the traditions that connect generations.
Taking place from October 24 through November 2, 2026, Festival de las Ánimas leads into Janal Pixán, the Maya tradition of honoring loved ones who have passed. Unlike other celebrations of remembrance around the world, Janal Pixán is uniquely Yucatecan, shaped by the food, stories, customs, and the Maya culture of this region.
This is a special time to experience Mérida. The weather begins to soften, evenings invite longer walks through Centro, and traditions that have been passed down for generations become part of daily life.
