1ª Entrega de Ofrendas en el Altar Monumental
Experience Janal Pixán at Mérida’s monumental altar in Plaza Grande, where visitors can take part in one of the more meaningful traditions of Festival de las Ánimas.
The Altar Monumental is a large-scale tribute to those who have passed, bringing this tradition of Janal Pixán out of our homes and into the community. Throughout the festival, families and visitors come to Plaza Grande to see the altar, learn about its meaning, and take part in the tradition by leaving flowers, candles, photographs, food, and messages in memory of loved ones.
On November 1, the 1ª Entrega de Ofrendas gives visitors the opportunity to participate in this tradition and experience the altar as part of the larger Festival de las Ánimas celebration. It is a chance to slow down, take in the details of the altar, and see how the traditions of Janal…
